The data base for videos or dvd?
The IUP Library has a couple of sources for videos.
Any videos that we own on VHS or DVD are listed in the PILOT online catalog. To use this source, go to the Library Home Page (www.iup.edu/library) and select the "PILOT Online Catalog" option.
Once connected to PILOT, the easiest way to search for videos is to set the system to limit your search to videos only. To do this, click on "Search Limits" button. This will take you to a page that allows you to set all kinds of parameters for your search. in the "Medium" box, use the scroll bar to go all the way to the bottom and select the "Videorecording" option. Then click on the "Set Search Limits" button. You'll return to the main PILOT menu which will now have a note that "Search Limits Are In Effect". Now, all keyword searches will return only video titles.
Because the PILOT search limits option only works for keyword searches and not all of the options on the main page are keyword based, it is better to select the "Guided Search" option. This search page allows you to build more sophisticated searchs and all of the searches are keyword based so the limiters will work. Just enter the search terms you need and click the search button. Your results will then list the videos we have.
Another option available for videos is the "Films On Demand" database. You can find this from the Library Home Page by clicking on the "Article Databases" link and then selecting "Films On Demand" database from the alphabetic list.
In the database, you can browse by general subject or search by keyword from the title of the film or from the titles of individual film segments. When you look at the full record for a title or segment, the database will give you a URL that you can copy and paste into any anywhere. You can even use these URLs from Moodle or D2L to provide links to videos on demand.
