First, I'm assuming that you are referring to Federal legislation, not state legislation. If you do need state information, please contact me via e-mail. 1. The best place to look for information on any Federal legislation pending is the "Thomas" database maintained by the Library of Congress. You can find it at Thomas allows you to search for legislation by bill number or keyword and will give you the legislative history, any sponsors, debate, etc. 2. You can find information about the National School Lunch programs in the United States Code, title 42, section 1751. There is an online version of that information in the Academic Universe database. Just go to the Library Home Page ( and select the "Article Databases" option. Then select "Academic Universe" from the alphabetic list. Once connected to Academic Universe, select the "Legal" tab at the top and then on the resulting page, select "Federal and State Codes" in the list on the right. Then in the "Enter Search Terms" box, type "School Lunch Programs" (include the quotes) and click the "Search" button. Scan the results to find the section marked "42 USCS $ 1751" and click on the link. There you will find the section of code that talks about lunch programs. It looks like the original law was passed in 1946 as Public Law 396. Unfortunately, the link in the Academic Universe database to that text is not working. I don't think they have the law texts from back that far in the database. However, we do have a paper copy of that law in the Reference Department on the 1st floor of Stapleton Library. Just look in the "United States Statutes at Large" (call number [REF] KF 540.U52) for Volume 60, part 1. Then look on page
