We have a number of children's books about dental health. You can find some of them in the Children's Collection on the 2nd floor of the Stabley part of the library complex in the 617.6 call number area. You can also find other children's materials (particularly fiction stories about dentistry) by using the PILOT online catalog. To find PILOT, go to the Library Home Page (www.iup.edu/library)and click on "Online Catalog". Once connected to PILOT, click on the button that says "Search Limits". This will take you to page that allows you to set all kinds of criteria to focus your search. Use the drop-down box in the "Location" area and select "Children's Collection". Then click the "Set Search Limits" button. This will return you to the main main menu, but you'll see a note that "Search Limits Are In Effect". Now, all keyword searches will only return items that are in the Children's Collection. To assure that you are doing a keyword search, click on the "Guided Search" tab. This gives you some choices for building a search strategy. In the "Search For" box, enter synonyms for things dealing with dental health. I had good luck entering tooth teeth dentist dental . Then in the box next to the "Search For" box, select the "Any of these" option. This tells the system to find results with any of the words you enter. You can enter as many terms as you can think of. Once you click search, the system will respond with a list of children's books that match your search. Another way to identify children's books by subject is to use a listing such as "A to ZOO". This set of books, kept in Reference Department on the 1st floor of Stapleton Library, is a subject index to children's literature. You can use the subject lists to identify specific titles and then use the PILOT catalog to search for the title to see if IUP owns a copy. The call number of the latest edition of A to ZOO is [REF]Z 1037.L7815 2006. You will find earlier editions of the work there as well and you'll also find other, similar lists of childrens books in that same area.
