Renewing PALCI books online is problematic. If you renew online, you are only renewing it within IUP's circulation system (not with the PALCI or the lending library) and the system will give you the standard 30 day extension for undergraduates. This is OK as long as the lending library assumes an automatic renew for 30 days. Not all of the PALCI libraries do that. That's what causes the problem. If you call the library and have the staff actually renew your book on the PALCI administrative system, then there will be no question about due date. All of the various systems (IUP, PALCI and the lending library) will have the same information. Unfortunately, you can't accomplish that with the current online renewal in PILOT. Most of our partner libraries in PALCI will grant renewal requests, even if the book is a couple of days overdue. All you have to do is call or e-mail the library staff. You can call (724)357-2340 or (724)357-2095 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
