I suspect that the problem is that you are trying to access one of the databases (probably Science Direct) by going directly to the database home page rather than through the library pages. IUP doesn't use the Athens protocol for database authentication. In order to successfully access the databases, you need to use a link that is on the Library "All Databases" page. Go to the Library Home Page (www.iup.edu/library)and click on "Article Database". This will open up the alphabetic list of all the databases available from IUP. Then select the database you want from the list. The link in the list will send you through the Keystone Library Network (KLN) PASS system for authentication. If you are using a computer that is on campus, the system will recognize your computer's address and automatically pass you through to the database. If you are coming in from off-campus, you'll get the PASS page. Use the block on the left where it asks for library barcode or ID. You'll enter the 16-digit number on your I-card and then your last name. The system will check you against our patron database and, if you are a valid user, pass you on to the database you want. If this doesn't solve your problem, please write to me directly at email@example.com with details about which database you are trying to open and exactly how you are getting there and I can continue troubleshooting the issue.
