Most of the electronic books available through the IUP Libraries are part of the NetLibrary system. In the PILOT online catalog, the full record for these titles will have a "Linked Resources" note that provides the clickable link to the text of the book. Alternately, you can open the NetLibrary database directly by going to the Library Home Page (www.iup.edu/library), clicking on "Books and More" and then on "NetLibrary (e-books). NetLibrary uses a bit of a strange log-in system. You can set up a free account on the system and establish your own user ID and password. The only requirement is that your initial registration must be done from a computer that is on the IUP campus network. Campus network computers have a machine address that NetLibrary will recognize so that the system knows you are a valid user. The computer can either be physically on campus or running the VPN (Virtual Private Network) software and currently logged in to the campus network. For mor information about VPN see : http://www.iup.edu/itsupportcenter/howto.aspx?id=45777. When you open NetLibrary from a campus computer, there will be link in the upper right hand corner for "Create a Free Account". Click that link and follow the directions on the screen to set up your account. You just have to answer a few questions and it takes only a minute or two to do. Once you have the account set up, you can access NetLibrary from ANY computer with an Internet connection. You don't have to be on campus. If you are unable to be on campus to register, you can call the Reference Desk at (724)357-3006 or (toll-free) 1-866-836-8815 and the librarian on duty can enter the registration for you.
