You aren't able to request electronic books like this through the PALCI system. The libraries owning the electronic book don't have a physical copy to send to us and they are not allowed to let anyone outside of their university use their electronic copy. I checked PALCI to see if there were physical copies of the book available. There are copies at Penn State University and at the University of Pennsylvania. Unfortunately those copies are in use at the moment, so we wouldn't be able to borrow them. Your next step would be to request the book through the ILLIAD Interlibrary Loan system. Through ILLIAD, we can go to libraries beyond Pennsylvania to see what is available. To find ILLIAD, go to the Library Home Page (, click on the "Books and More" and then on the "ILLIAD (Interlibrary Loan)" link. This will take you to the ILLIAD login screen. In order to make requests, you must be a registered user of ILLIAD. If you don't already have a user ID and password, click on the "First Time Users" link. This will take you to a page that explains the system and that has a "First Time Users Click Here" button at the bottom. Click that button to get the registration page and fill out the requested information (including setting up your user ID and password). Once you've completed the registration form, click "Submit" and then you'll be immediately registered. Once you've logged in to ILLIAD, you have the choice of several different request forms. "Request a Photocopy" is used for journal articles or individual book chapters. You also have "Request a Book" and "Request a Video". Select the appropriate request form and then enter the information about the item you need. When you submit the form, our staff will identify a library that has the material and request that it be sent here for you to use. You will receive e-mail notification when the books arrives at IUP and then you can pick it up at the Circulation Desk on the 1st floor of Stapleton Library. Average turnaround time for ILLIAD is 3-6 working days.
