The Serials Department (located on the ground floor of Stapleton Library) has several sub-locations. The "Current Stacks" are the most recent materials (usually the latest year or so) and they are located in the Stapleton part of the building toward the western wall. When you come out of the stairs on the ground floor, turn to the right and you'll see them ahead of you and bit to the left. The Current Stacks use 3/4 height shelving where the issues lay flat. The shelves are arranged alphabetically by the title of the journal. The "Back Stacks" are older materials where the issues have been collected together into volumes and bound. The majority of the Back Stacks are in the Stabley part of the building and are also arranged alphabetically by journal title. When you come out of the stairs on the ground floor turn to the right. The double door passageway to the Stabley building is just ahead of you. There is a small portion of the Back Stacks located in the Stapleton part of the building. The beginning of the "A's" start on the tall shelves along the south wall of the Stapleton part of the building (to the left of the Current Stacks) and then continue in Stabley. Other locations where you might find serials are in the microarea. These are also on the ground floor, but you have to request them from the staff at the Serials Desk. They will retrieve the material for you. All of these locations are included in the PILOT online catalog. When you look up the record of a journal title, all the holdings will be listed in one of these areas.
