HI'm not exactly sure what could be causing the problem with your .pdf files. Are you using the Adobe Acrobat print command or are you using the web browser's print command? When you open a .pdf document, Adobe Acrobat should open automatically and give you an extra toolbar that is just above the document image. There is a little printer icon on that toolbar. That's the option you should use to print the document. Sometimes, people will try to use the printer icon that is on the web browser's toolbar or they'll open the File menu and select Print from there. I'm so used to Microsoft Office that I do this all the time. If you use this browser print option, the system will either try to print the empty frame that is around the .pdf document or not print at all. That might be what is happening in your case. If you are using the Adobe print command and it's still not printing, there may be something wrong with your computer's print settings. Unfortunately, I'm not able to troubleshoot those types of problems. You'll need to contact the IT Service Help Desk at (724)357-4000 or your college technology manager to get the issue resolved. For your second question.... Yes, you can get access to IUP Library resources from non-IUP computers. If you try to access a database or other restricted resource from off-campus, our system will try to verify that you are a valid user. You will probably get a screen from the Keystone Library Network entitled PASS : Patron Authentication System. This page has two areas -- the one on the left asks for Library Barcode or Identification and Last Name and the one on the right asks for Institution, Username and Password. You need to use the block on the left. Your Library Barcode is the 16-digit number at the bottom of your I-card. It's the one that starts 6008.... Enter that number and your last name and then click the login button. The system will then verify you in our user database and allow you access to the database. There are a few databases that don't work with this authentication system. They are so marked on the Library's All Databases list. You can have remote access to these database if you run the VPN (Virtual Private Network) software on the remote machine. You can find information about that software and how to set it up at :
