Your topic is rather broad and I won't be able to address all your needs in an e-mail response. I would strongly suggest that you come in to Stapleton Library and talk with a librarian at the Reference Desk. The librarian will help you to focus your search and can suggest resources and searching techniques that can get you to the information you need. An e-mail response can't be helpful enough. In the meantime, I can provide some general guidance. If you are looking for books, you need to use the PILOT online catalog. To find PILOT, go to the Library Home Page ( and click on "Online Catalog". This will connect you to the system. Once connected to PILOT, you can search by author, title, subject, etc. Since your topic is a bit involved, I would suggest that you use the "Guided Search" option. This will help you build a search strategy that uses multiple concepts. The individual results you give will show the information about the book, media item, or electronic material and give you a location and call number for finding the item in the library. For journal articles, you need to use some of the databases we provide. You can find these by going to the Library Home Page and clicking on "Article Databases". This will give you a list of over 150 databases that we make available. Click on a database from the list to begin searching. I would suggest that you look a the following databases: America : History and Life (the most prominent American History database), Music Index Online, International Index of Music Periodicals, Academic Search Complete, InfoTrac OneFile, and Wilson OmniFile. Search by your keywords and you'll get citations to articles. In many cases the full text of the article will be available online. If it is not, the librarian at the Reference Desk can help you determine what is available in physical form.
