Yes, you can request books from the main campus be sent to the Monroeville site for you. The way you do that is through the ILLIAD Interlibrary Loan system. Normally, ILLIAD is just used to request materials from other colleges and universities, but we have adapted it for requests from the various IUP sites.
To use ILLIAD, go to the Library Home Page (www.iup.edu/library) and click on the "Interlibrary Loan" link. This will take you to the ILLIAD login page. In order to make requests you must be a registered user. If you don't already have a user ID and password, just click on the "First Time Users" link. This will take you to a page that explains the system and that has a "First Time Users Click Here" button at the bottom. Click that button to get the registration page. On the registration page, give us your contact information and specify your user ID and password. For Monroeville users, it is important that you select the "Monroeville Center" option for the location where you will pick up your ILLs. Once you submit the registration form, you'll be immediately registered and taken to the ILLIAD main menu.
On the ILLIAD main menu you have the option to "Request a Photocopy"(used for journal articles or individual book chapters), "Request a Book" or "Request a Video". Select the appropriate form and enter as much information as you can about the item you need.
If you request material from the main library, it is very helpful if you can list the location and call number in the "Notes" field on the request. It will help expedite the request.
If you request material that IUP does not own, our staff will locate a library that does own it and request a copy be sent to IUP for you to use. The average ILL request takes about 3-6 working days to fill.
