A great place to find information on both sides of a controversial issue is a library database called CQ Researcher.

This database provides single-themed reports on current topics in health, social trends, criminal justice, international affairs, education, the environment, technology and the economy. Within each of these reports is a pro/con debate by representatives of opposing positions.

In addition to the pro/con section, the reports also include an introductory overview, which poses and addresses relevant questions; a background and chronology on the topic; an assessment of the current situation; tables and maps; and bibliographies of key sources.

CQ Researcher has also created Issue Tracker, a new browsing tool that lets users trace topics through years and across decades to quickly gather their research on the historical development of hot topics and events.

How do I get to CQ Researcher?

You can access CQ Researcher from the IUP Library Databases page. In the Databases A-Z list, navigate to the selection for CQ Electronic Library. Then click CQ Researcher Plus Archive.

Within the database, you can browse reports by date or topic or search for a specific report by keyword.
